How to Claim Kerala State Lottery Prize?
If a person wins the Kerala State lottery prize, he or she should claim the prize within 30 days of the draw date. They should submit all legally required documents showing identity and proof of ownership as per the list here.
For smaller prizes – that is up to INR 1,00,000/-, one can approach the District lottery office. There are 14 district lottery offices in the state – one in each district.
For prizes above INR 1,00,000/-, one should submit the claim to the Director of State Lotteries at Thiruvananthapuram. The winning ticket should bear the name and signature along with the address of the winner on the backside of it.
A person can claim his or her winning amount through a bank also. They can approach any nationalized bank or State bank or District bank Co-Operative bank with relevant documents. The bank will claim the amount on behalf of the winner from the state department.
Documents Required to Claim Kerala Lottery Prize:
- Self-attested photocopies of both sides of the winning ticket
- An application of claiming the prize
- A receipt of money with the name and address of the winner. It should also bear a One Rupee revenue stamp. (Find the format with this article)
- A minor winner’s prize will be given to the guardian only with attested proof of guardianship.
- For joint winners, the prize will be given to one person only. The other party or parties must give authorization to one person on an INR 50/- stamp paper.
- Copy of PAN Card with self-attestation
- Copy of any of the following: Ration Card, Driving License, Passport, Election ID Card, etc. as proof of ID. This should be attested by a competent authority.
Tax Deduction on Kerala Lottery Winnings
There will be a Central Government Income Tax deduction of 30% for all winnings above INR 10,000/-. The small prizes are passed by the Deputy Director of the Department. These are of amounts up to INR 20,00,000/-. Also for all big winnings above INR 20,00,000/-, the Director of the Department will pass the payment for distribution.
